Tuesday Night Book Club

Get together with other book lovers to discuss great books and how they intertwine with our lives and experiences.  This books club for adults of all ages meets on the last Tuesday of the month and is led by Marci Retzlaff.  The book club members meet in January to select the books to read in the upcoming year.

Presented by Sarah Polacek and staff, Nebraska Extension Madison County. Must sign up in advance and be able to attend all 4 sessions.  Space limited to 25 children per session.  For children that have completed grades K-2, the sessions will be from 9:00-9:45 A.M.  For children who have completed grades 3-6, the sessions will be from 10:00-10:45 A.M. 

June 6:  I PLEDGE MY HEAD TO CLEARER THINKING: Using our heads we can think like engineers to design and create objects to make our lives easier and solve real world problem! While attending this session learn about designs, how strong is a single piece of paper, and build an indestructible house for the 3 little pigs out of toothpicks!

June 13: I PLEDGE MY HEART TO GREATER LOYALTY: Opening our hearts to others through kindness encourages friendship and teamwork. Join us and learn about kindness and brainstorm ideas of projects that can be done in the community to help others and spread kindness! Create a fun place mat to share ideas, spread kindness and share with someone you care about! 

June 20:  I PLEDGE MY HANDS TO LARGER SERVICE: In using our hands we can put our plans into action by creating designs that can be tested and improved! Learn about chain reactions and create kinetic art! 

June 27:  I PLEDGE MY HEALTH TO BETTER LIVING: Develop skills and methods by looking for answers to questions through active investigation! Join us as we explore nature, learn about our ecosystem, and discover the world around us! Learn about our soil, go on an un-nature walk and create a bird feeder!

Summer Reading Program-First Day to Turn in Reading Records

Registration for the Summer Reading Program is underway!  This is the first day that Reading Records can be turned in for prizes.  Readers and "Read-to-Me's" of all ages are still able to sign up to earn rewards for completing 25 hours of reading!

Rewards vary by age group, and include a free pass to AquaVenture, Nebraska State Fair coupons, and "Build a Better World" themed goodies.
